kolo

Yesterday was a cold and gloomy day. Not the best weather to go hunting for treasures and the dealers were not in a bargaining mood either but a few things still caught my eye...

my kolo bargains

kolo finds today

kolo: polish antique textiles

kolo: art deco porcelain figurines

In the May issue of Elle Decor, Poland, these figurines were featured in an article. The article was very interesting, explaining the history of the figurines and their great art deco design elements. Knowing this, I  couldn't believe I stumbled upon such a find today at the Kolo. It was very interesting to see these figurines up close-- the geometric ones and the ladies were my favorites.

kolo: polish antique linens

These antique linens caught my eye at the antique market. Although the lace work is not as intricate as in Belgian lace, these linens have a raw beauty to them. They are very light, reminiscent of the feeling Anthropologie's home collection gives off. What is unusual about them is their shapes-- long, vertical on the sides and, in the center, a short panel.

kolo: hanging lamps

antique folk trunks

These are pretty good examples of Polish antique folk trunks. These dealers just drive around the countryside to small villages and buy them up to sell in Warsaw. The antique trunks are hand painted, oftentimes in a floral motif, with the date. They are very expensive but I will still keep pining away for one..
