This is a hidden convent of the Urszulanki sisters in the center of Warsaw behind the Warsaw Music Academy. They have their own fields which they till and grow their own crops-- which is amazing as it is located right in the heart of the city.

warsaw uprising wall writings
This writing says "No mines found. Checked." It is one of the few remaining 'graffitis' from the Warsaw Uprising. Now it is covered by protective glass and you can find it in Ochota.

hot doughnuts
Out of this little window on ul. Chielmna, you can find one of the best secrets in Warsaw-- hot doughnuts! These doughnuts are covered with glaze and almond slices and filled in the center with Polish rose jam (it is fantastic). They are served warm so when you bite into them you have a crispiness from the almonds and a warm jam filled inside. Blike's doughnuts may be the most historic and famous in the city but these are the best.

warsaw's palm
This palm tree was set up as a temporary exhibition entitled "Greetings from Jerusalem Avenue" in 2002/3. The artist,Joanna Rajkowska, intended it to be up only for the exhibition but, after protest from citizens of Warsaw, the palm tree stayed. You can find it on the crossroads of Jerozolimskie Street and Nowy Swiat.

marjusz jewlery
I met Marjusz two weeks ago at the regional products fair in nowe miasto (Warsaw). Although not all it is is my style, I really liked it all and think the quality is fantastic. I was most drawn to his rings, silver flowers with small diamonds, silver rings with natural pearls in a modern settings and his leaf 'collection'. His set up with the suitcases is also very original. His website isn't up and running yet but his contact information is: marjusz_bizuteria@op.pl
